AUGUST '26

Well this has been another eventful year so far, generally and personally. So much so that this update comes much later in the year than normal.

This work, as I have outlined, is inspired not only by the incredible teacher/philosopher J Krishnamurti, but also by my own journey on the more Western path of self-love, and the outcome is a link between the two ways of seeing. This need to hold the two aspects of life – the time-bound separate state of being human and the peace of the infinite wisdom and love of the ground of Being - becomes more and more clear and urgent as humanity spirals into ever growing chaos while the earth responds with life-threatening challenges.

How are we to hold any kind of perspective, or truth, within this noise?

I find myself returning to the deeply held sense of nothing being separate from the intelligence of Life. Our time-bound selves are not operating without that intelligence, even though it’s much harder to see, and we long to bask in the peace of One-ness. However there is wisdom to be gleaned in traversing through our human journey; this is the point of our earthbound lives.

Although it’s tempting to resist, to find more ways to distract from or shut out the challenges we face, in this attempt we create more conflict within as it’s based on judgement.

This judgement is of the brain which can’t see the path we are each on; the bigger picture of our journey to enlightenment embedded in the human heart and mind as compassion, love.

Until we embrace all that life is throwing at us, the intensity of how we are feeling, staying intimately with it without moving away until it speaks to us of what we are each learning, we will stay in ignorance of the link between the separate and the One.

There is no answer to life, no perfect life or state of never-ending peace. That is the desire of the brain which longs to solve all the problems once and for all.

Life is a constant unfolding of change, and its intelligence, if we can glimpse it, guides each one of us to our truth. To be who we are, as humans and as expressions of that love and peace beyond. The immensity of the tapestry of life which holds all these paths to truth is immeasurable, as is the infinite awareness which encompasses it.

So look at what life is giving you now, the good and the seeming bad. See it with choiceless awareness which doesn’t judge or look for outcomes. Stay with how it makes you feel until this feeling flowers and dies through you, opening you to the human condition. Let your heart widen with the compassion which holds this human condition in infinite tenderness and love, like lost sheep trying to find the fold. This is not easy and we are having to look at violence, despair, fear and hate with that same dispassionate view, but we are each that, however we want to deny it. We are each the totality of human consciousness.

This is the key to the two elements of existence; the infinite love holding our shared human condition in ever new compassion, moment by moment, through the noise of chaos of which we are all a part.

For my own life, we now have a wonderful, full-on puppy; a Lagotto Romagnolo who love bombs us as much as she challenges us to keep young and stay present. Being a mother and wife, doing my spiritual work with deep, thoughtful people and touring the country presenting a fabulous music show throws up many things, while also being aware of the background chaos of the world, so – as I said – life is eventful…
